I started reborning five years ago when I would use Berenguer, Lee Middleton, or Ashton Drake play dolls and then each  play doll was carefully taken apart, washed thoroughly in hot, soapy water and rinsed then dried completely before the internal paint process would begin.   I started with stencil creams and then Artist's oils and now I am using Genesis Heat Set Paints.  I strive to improve my artistic skills with each and every baby.  I also reborn solid silicone babies.  Painting silicone is very different from working with vinyl/silicone babies.  It is an art form all its own.

  Now I am using reborn doll kits that come completely blank and feels like I are working on a blank canvas.  Since I am  now using the new Genesis Heat Set paints that are painted in layers and then heated in between each layer of paint,  this paint actually makes these reborn babies look so much more real than even before.  This art form has become my love and passion.  Each and every baby that I create is made from my heart.  It is so hard to let these little creations leave my nursery.

  I do not rush the techniques I use as it takes many days and hours to create a life-like baby. It is my goal to create the most amazingly life like and realistic baby possible. My babies are created with much love and time to guarantee no detail is overlooked. Every wrinkle, crease and fold are blushed and colored. I create natural undertones and depth to their complexion.  No dyes are ever used on my babies. Many hours of detailed work goes into each and everyone one of my precious little reborn babies. My techniques of artist mediums are knowledgeably used to achieve life like qualities in each of my babies. They have such realism and glow in their little faces. I try to create the most realistic baby possible.

  I give them very realistic and subtle veins, in all the appropriate areas, where a baby’s skin is naturally thinner. These extra details are amazing, and just add to the realism.  I am committed to creating each baby that I reborn to have their own unique look and personality.  I sign each of my babies on their little bottom.  

  I also hand micro root hair with Angora kid goat mohair. The eyes that I use are either glass eyes or Masterpiece eyes  in the babies. Then I hand draw in tiny strokes barely-there eyebrows and use either Kemper eyelashes, or if a sleeper I then root their eyelashes.. The fingernails and toenails are tinted and tipped with translucent paints then sealed for a fresh baby manicure.

  The lips are tinted and sealed.  Little nostrils are carefully opened making the baby a 'breather', and backed with pink felt for realism. Mouths here at Rosie’s Baby Patch are not cut so as to not impose splitting upon the vinyl. They are so realistic looking that you will wonder when they are going to take a real breath. The limbs are filled with soft polyfil, which are then sealed with pure silicone.   The bodies are either cloth or doe suede jointed and proportionally fitted for each baby. This is carefully stuffed with polyfil, plastic pellets and my own weighting material to achieve the newborn weight.  

  Each doll is made with love and is difficult to part with. I've found such joy in making the dolls because it enables me to use my artistic skills. I strive to create keepsakes that mommies will treasure forever even after their own Breathtaking Babies have left the nest.
